About Rosemary Dunning

Rosemary Dunning’s journey as an artist is woven with vibrant colours, music, and a deep interest in the world around her.
She was born in Toronto, Ontario, surrounded by loving parents, a sister, and a large extended family. A serious student of classical piano, her first love was music. She initially envisioned music, not art, as a lifelong pursuit, but music is evident in much of her work.
She holds Bachelor of English Literature and Fine Art degrees from York University. She also took postgraduate studies at Atkinson College and Ontario College of Art and Design.
For many years she was the coordinator and instructor of the Design Foundation Program at Humber College in Toronto.
Rosemary draws inspiration from the natural world. Her daily walks in the countryside where she lives are often where she finds so many subjects that ignite her imagination and find expression in her compositions. She is continually inspired by the interplay of light, shape, and colour.
She channels her emotions and the emotions she observes in others into her work. This deeply personal approach, coupled with her extensive exploration of composition, enriches her art with a unique perspective.
